A LITTLE CLARITY GOES A LONG WAY

Repair it?
Replace it?
Let’s start with the facts.

You don’t need to know the answer before asking for help. A useful recommendation starts with your equipment, your home, and your priorities.

01

Condition & repair history

What’s wrong now, and how often has the system needed attention?

02

The complete cost

Compare the proposed repair with replacement scope, warranty, and ongoing care.

03

Your comfort & future plans

Consider room temperatures, noise, energy use, and how long you plan to stay.

04 / NO GUESSWORK IN YOUR DECISION

A clearer quote.
A more confident choice.

Every home and project is different. Compare the full scope of work, and ask what is included before you agree to a price.

What goes into an HVAC quote?

  • Equipment type, capacity, and model
  • Labour, access, and installation requirements
  • Ductwork or other necessary modifications
  • Taxes, exclusions, and payment schedule
  • Workmanship coverage and equipment warranty
Ask whether the initial visit is a paid diagnostic call or an installation estimate. Confirm charges before the appointment.
MAKE IT COMPARABLE

Compare scope, not just totals.

Two prices can cover very different work. Ask each contractor for an itemized written quote and its validity period.

PLAN YOUR BUDGET

Ask about payment options.

Financing and incentives depend on the provider, equipment, and eligibility. Confirm current terms before including them in your budget.

05 / YOUR HOME. YOUR DECISION.

Good questions make
for better choices.

HVAC Choice brings the starting points together: the service you need, the questions worth asking, and a way to prepare your contractor enquiry.

Before hiring, take a little time to understand who will do the work and what their quote covers.

Good to know
before you start.

Have the right conversation.
Make the decision that fits your home.

Is HVAC Choice an HVAC contractor?

HVAC Choice is a marketplace for Ontario homeowners. The contractor you choose is responsible for assessing your project, confirming the scope and price, and performing the work.

What if I don’t know which service I need?

Select “Not sure” and describe the symptoms or what you want to improve. Include the type of equipment you have if you know it. A contractor can explain what assessment is needed.

Can I request urgent or weekend service?

You can mark your request as urgent. A contractor must confirm availability, response timing, and any after-hours charges. An enquiry is not a confirmed service appointment.

How much will a repair or installation cost?

The equipment, problem, access, and required work all affect the price. Ask about diagnostic charges before a visit and request a written scope and quote before authorizing work.

How long does an installation take?

The schedule depends on equipment availability, the scope of work, site access, and any associated work or inspections. Your contractor can provide a project-specific timeline after an assessment.

Who provides the warranty and aftercare?

Manufacturer warranties and contractor workmanship coverage are separate. Ask your contractor to explain the written terms, registration requirements, maintenance responsibilities, and who to contact if a problem occurs.

Are financing or rebates available?

Options vary by provider, equipment, and program eligibility. Ask about current offers, independently check program requirements, and review full financing costs before making a commitment.

Can I enquire about a condo or commercial property?

Yes. Select your property type and include relevant equipment, access, and coordination details. The contractor will need to confirm that your project is within their service scope.
